Ashley Tisdale Lands New CBS Pilot: What the Other High School Musical Stars Have Been Up to Lately
Former "High School Musical" star, Ashley Tisdale has landed herself a nice role in a new comedy pilot for CBS which is still untitled. She has been cast in a Louis CK/Spike Feresten show about a group of creative young people that are trying to achieve their dreams during these tough financial times. Ms. Tisdale will play the role of Petra, a beautiful and sarcastic girl who is struggling to find her niche in New York while also being an assistant to a vintage clothing designer. This sounds like a great role for this "Hellcats" star. She has that dramatic side to her with a twist of comedy mixed in as seen in her portrayal of Sharpay Evans in both "High School Musical" and "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure." This classic character made you want to hate her but she also made you laugh and feel a bit sorry for her. There is no doubt that this blond beauty can pull this new role off and become a primetime TV star. What about the other stars from "High School Musical?" What have they been up to lately?
Zac Efron
The role of high school basketball star Troy Bolton made Zac Efron an overnight teen sensation. With his good looks and a great singing voice, young girls were swooning. Those same fans have followed this 24-year-old actor as he headed to the big screen in "17 Again" back in 2009 and then followed up with "Charlie St. Cloud" the following year. The big hit, "New Year's Eve" in 2011 was also another feather in his cap. This young actor with the sexy smile also lends his voice to the new animated film, "The Lorax" in which he stars with country girl Taylor Swift. The movie opens on March 2, 2012. This boy is not done yet! Look for two new films this year, "The Paperboy" and "The Lucky One."
Vanessa Hudgens
This former girlfriend of Zac Efron's is also doing pretty darn good in her career. Since her role as Gabriella Montez, this cute brunette has starred in a couple of films, "Beastly" and "Sucker Punch." Her most recent flick is called "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" which is now out in theaters. She is also cast in "Spring Breakers" alongside fellow Disney queen Selena Gomez and James Franco.
Corbin Bleu
This curly haired cutie has been in the Broadway show, "In the Heights" and is now the national spokesperson for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Corbin's current project is a movie called "Renee" that blends fairytales and real life in a story about a young girl who battles addiction and self-injury.
Monique Coleman
This pretty lady who played Taylor McKessie on "High School Musical" has been pretty quiet these days. However, she does have a new movie coming out in 2012 called "We are Family" about siblings of different cultures and backgrounds that find each other later in life. Her very latest project just happens to be marriage. The newlywed got married on Valentine's Day 2012 to Walter Jordan in Tha! iland.
Lucas Grabeel
Lucas played the role of Sharpay's musical brother, Ryan Evans and since then, he has had various guest roles in shows such as "CSI", "Veronica Mars" and "Family Guy." The most recent project for this 27-year-old actor is the role of Toby Kennish on "Switched at Birth" on ABC Family.
